Become A Candidate

The 14 Lib Dem councillors on Cambridgeshire County Council are the second largest group in a no overall control council. We can win more councillors in May 2017, if we have strong candidates.

Earlier this year Lorna Dupré won the county by-election in Sutton, and we came within 18 votes of winning the district by-election in Bottisham. In May’s South Cambs district elections we gained three seats and across SE Cambs we had a strong showing in the Police & Crime Commissioner election.

Could you be one of our candidates, or do you know somebody who would make a good candidate? If so, please contact:

All candidates, including sitting councillors, must be approved before they can be selected, unless approved within the last four years. Approval is not difficult; it is simply us making sure that all our candidates are fit and proper people to represent their local community and the Lib Dems. If you are new to standing for office, you will get training and support from more experienced candidates and councillors.

Application Forms

The application form is designed to help us get to know you. We are fully supportive of all diversity issues and these will not affect your application in any way, but it is useful for us to be aware of any additional needs you may have or any LGBT status.
